The individual was arrested in Calgary, Alberta and is scheduled to appear in the court-martial for a $10,000 fine, the court documents indicate. In the study, a random sample of men with ED were treated with tadalafil or sildenafil for 4 weeks. They were also given either a placebo or a tadalafil-containing combination therapy, or a placebo, for 2 months. The results showed that tadalafil helped the men improve their erectile function in only a small number of cases.
Sildenafil, a drug similar to Viagra, is used for the treatment of ED. But in the study, sildenafil was found to be just as effective as tadalafil for men with erectile dysfunction, although it doesn’t have the same side effects. It also doesn’t have the same potency, and has fewer side effects.
“We have no idea why sildenafil is so effective,” Dr. Koeppe toldThe BMJ.“This is a new study, so we haven’t really studied it.”
This means it would take more than 10 years to see the effect of tadalafil on erectile function. “It’s not very long,” he said.
A different study, in which 50,000 men were treated for 6 months with tadalafil or sildenafil for 5 years, showed that the tadalafil was more effective in treating ED than the placebo in treating it. “The only difference was the frequency of adverse events,” Dr. Koeppe said. “We don’t know how many cases of ED occur.”
Dr. Koeppe’s team tested the effect of sildenafil on erectile function by taking out a placebo. They also took out a tadalafil-containing combination therapy, which had a lower risk of ED. The results were published last year, in theJournal of Sexual Medicine.
A total of 50,000 patients were treated with tadalafil or sildenafil, and were followed for 3.6 years.
Tadalafil had the least side effects and the most successful treatment of the study.
“We found that sildenafil helped men with ED better. This is the first study to look at the effect of sildenafil on erectile function,” Dr.
“We know that sildenafil is effective, and we know that sildenafil works,” he added. “So we’re very pleased with the results.”
This study was funded by the U. S. National Institute of Health (NIH), a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and an NSF/USP National Institute of Health Research grant.
The researchers also hope to see a similar effect for erectile dysfunction in men who haven’t responded to sildenafil.
